Strategies to Support Indigenous Participation in Ontario COVID-19 Response

Index

COVID-19 has highlighted the inequities in healthcare and the social determinants of health for structurally-marginalized populations, including Indigenous peoples. It has also demonstrated the strengths of those same communities, especially by the way they’ve continued to support each other during the pandemic. Through their immediate actions, Indigenous communities, health centres, and social services organizations were quick to mobilize against COVID-19 while finding innovative ways to support existing services within the community at large. As mainstream healthcare providers, fostering Indigenous participation is critical to get through these challenging times. This course, “Supporting Indigenous Participation in Ontario’s COVID-19 Response”, aims to meaningfully engage and involve both Indigenous communities and organizations in COVID-19 response and recovery activities.
